I want my kid to become a model. Can you help me?

mffHello Stage Parents and model aspirants! Before you place an inquiry or comment,  Please note that I am not a talent scout, I don’t have any connection with any advertising company, any agency or inside connection with anyone in this industry. I hope this blog can help you get your kid into commercial modeling YOURSELF not through me

FAQ: How can make my kid a model?

Answer:

To those who are asking kung pano maging model, it is all explained on my blog. Simply enlist with an agent. On why, how and where, you will find it on the main page. Please do not send me photos as I am not in any position to recommend, promote or get you or your child into this business. I put up this site to give my insights as a parent of a child model. I hope you will find great deal of tips on how to get your child into commercial modeling in the Philippines.

I am just a Stage Mother who would like to share my own insights on commercial modeling. With my workload as a freelance writer and a full-time mom, I can not grant request to view online albums or links to images to see if their child is fit to model. If you think your child is and has the will, please sign up under an agency.

  1. Hi Mommy jazz. I would like to ask, if what are the samples of talent agency for kids? My daughter was approached by a woman from one of the mall in Taguig, to be a Nido Model, because of her body built, broad shoulder and having curly hair. They gave us a calling card, but I doubt if its real or just a scam. Can you give some piece of advice pra mbawasan ang pag alala ko. Natatakot kasi for my daughter. Thanks

  2. Hi Jazz,
Thank you for your very informative blog.
My kids was invited for VTR on Sunday May 14 by TRIMED talent agency but I wonder they are not included in your list under “How can I get in touch with Agencies? Why do I need an agent?”.

    Hope your immediate response.

    Thank you.

  3. Hi there,..
Hingi po sana ako advised nkakatakot kase ma scam..hoping for asap comments.thank u and godbless.

    • Ang working permit is good for 5 years at wala akong natatandaang binayaran ko to get that. Dapat magulang ang kukuha dahil may lecture na sasabihin ang DOLE bago irelease ang permit at dapat may project na at contract for the project stating the child’s role and pay, bago maka apply ng permit. Please read the portion of my blog on “am I being scammed?”.
PS: After verifying, I found out that a Child Working Permit’s validity is 1 year and an application fee of P100 is charged.

          Click to access CHECKLIST%20FOR%20WORKING%20CHILD%20PERMIT(1).pdf

You may even download and fill up a form.

          Click to access wcpaf_form.pdf

It says here, meron ngang application fee na P100 lang. Kaya naman po kelangan aprubado ng DOLE ang contract, it’s for DOLE to see that there is no form of violation and that the agency complies with all their requirements. Ang validity ng permit (I stand corrected on this, nagbago na siguro ngayon) ay depende sa employment contract niya sa agency but not to exceed 1 year, according to this:
          http://bwsc.dole.gov.ph/programs-and-projects-submenu1/clpep/working-child-permit-wcp.html

            Thanks mam jazz..

          • Kung may project na naka line-up para sa bata, well and good. Congrats! Pero nasan ang contrata? Make sure na legal and it is your right to ask for a breakdown of charges. Kaibiganin niyo po ang iba pang magulang ng mga bata under that agency kung ganon din ang sinabi sa kanila. Kahit kelan, I’m not in favor of agencies asking for fees as I explained in this blog. Pero 5K is just ridiculous.

  4. Southside Modelling Division of Chase Productions is a big SCAM!!! Do not be fooled by this. The Gay person Mark who pretends to be the Director is not at all the owner of this. It does not even have legal documents. You will be asked to pay P350 for profile pictorial and VTR that was suppose to be free anyways. I have other parent complaining that they ask you to pay WORKSHOP FEE that does not push thru after getting payment form you. Does his registration is disgusting units with no exact address. Profile pictorial and so called acting workshop is done in Wildlife Park by whoever not qualified to teach. Will only communicate with you upon registration after that deadma!

    • Thank you for this feedback. Agency ecperiences are rarely shared here. Hoping to get more feedback about this and other agencies.
Don’t they have business permit displayed in their office?

  5. good day,

an agency listed in your blog PM me in FB saying that I am already pre qualified or tanggap na as agency talent. They were also asking me to come to their office for vtr filing and briefing of project line up. Since I still dont have that setcard, they informed that there’s a fee of Php 350 for my photo shoot. On their FB page they are claiming that Nikki Gil and Rhian Ramos is their talent. Quite impressive though. But when I searched the agency name on DTI’s website, it cannot be found. Does that mean that the agency is illegitimate??? My friends are telling me not to come because it might be a scam or watsoever.

    Please advise….

    Thanks in advance….

    • DTI website listing does not get updated regularly. Other agencies do not charge for the setcard. You have an option to pick a different agency. Just be sure you are serious in committing with your choice of agency. This is why other agencies charge their talent. P350 is reasonable setcard fee. I heard of an agency charging 2k for a setcard. Now that’s a scam.

  6. Hi there,
Thank you for this blog it’s really helpful.
One question , can my son apply as a model though we don’t live in the Phil ? We live in Singapore He’s did few modeling jobs and TV adverts here in Singapore. I was wondering if we could back in the Phil.
    Tank you for your help.
    Warm Regards,
    Amy

    • Hi Amy! You may email,a Philippine modeling agency of your choice together with your son’s setcard and modeling experience. Notify them of the dates you’ll be visiting the Phils and your local contact number. Get in touch with them when you arrive so they can notify you of visiting their office and VTR schedules.
Some agencies have affiliates in other countries. Check your agent in Singapore if they have a sister agency in the Phils para convenient for you.
The agency list infos found in this blog is subject to change so do make an online search for updates.

  8. Hi. I’m currently 14, and I wonder if I could get a part time job as a model sometimes. I was wondering if the agencies you listed also accepts teens. Also, do they accept those who are not filipinos? And I’m wondering what’s the average pay for the job? Thanks

    • Teens and foreigners are also in demand. Please read topic “Who else can be a model?”
      https://stagemothercornerph.wordpress.com/2014/04/24/what-do-you-do-on-vtrs-can-babies-be-models-too/

These days, talent fee for lead role for a popular product TVC produced by a top advertising agency can go for P150,000.00. Note that agent gets 30% commission. Extra with dialogue go for P30,000 and fillers/background for 10K. Talent fee (TF) as solo/lead for print is P15K. Pay varies depending on the client’s budget, the exposure and role. Since the pay is attractive, many hopefuls try their chance of winning that gold unaware that for each role, a hundred other hopefuls compete. This also attract scammers so please be careful.

  9. Hi, my son was accepted as a fall back baby for TVC recently. May Child’s permit to work na sya from DOLE at may validity period of 5 months sa Agency. My question is pwede ba na tumangap ng project sa ibang agency if ever?

    • The DOLE permit is valid regardless of the agency. It will be up to you and your agency if you will be allowed to be represented by other agencies. That is, kung may pinirmahan kayong exclusivity with your agent, you have to stick with them until your contract expires. Kung wala, then you can switch (and switch back) agencies using the same DOLE permit. Naka indicate lang sa DOLE permit kung anu-ano ang projects na nagawa na ng bata and what agency he was under for each project. It does not mean that the permit is exclusive only to 1 agent.
If you have better offers with other agents, then it’s time to think about switching agencies.
Another important reminder. Keep the DOLE permit with you. Some agencies close down, some move to another location, employees resign and you wouldn’t know kung san na napadpad ang permit mo. Best is to keep it with you.

    • VTR for file is done by the agent in the agency office. VTR for casting is done at a venue specified by the production office through your agent. Sila po ang gumagawa ng VTR, not the talent/model.

  10. Hi MommyJazz, I just saw this new blog, used to get info from the Multiply site 🙂 Good job, very informative as always 🙂 Thank you and God bless you and your family…

    • Thank you Claire. This blog is still getting a lot of views kahit napabayaan ko na when it was still in Multiply. Hanggang nawala na ang Multiply eating my blog. Buti nalang na save ko pa yung content so I revised it and placed it here on wordpress. Though blogging about commercial modeling isn’t my forte, it kind of got me on top of search engines kaya keribels lang. I know maraming naghahanap ng sagot about this topic and scam-bags are on the lose kaya as a safety reminder for everyone na rin, I have to continue with this.
      Thank you po sa pansin.
